Nigerian Billionaire Rewards the Super Eagles Team

nigerian-billionaire mike-adenugaThe Nigerian Super Eagles have been generously rewarded with a $1 million dollars (£666,667) by the second richest man in Nigeria Mike Adenuga, for winning the 2013 African Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles beat the Burkina Faso Stallions team 1-0 on Sunday at the finals in Soweto, South Africa to clinch the title of African champions. The Nigerian telecoms and oil tycoon announced the donation shortly after the team's victory over Burkina Faso's Stallions.

Nigeria Beat Mali to Reach Final Nigeria marched into their first African Cup of Nations final since 2000 after a convincing 4-1 win over Mali in the first semi-final.

Goals from Elderson Echiejile, Brown Ideye, Emmanuel Emenike and Ahmed Musa gave the Super Eagles an unassailable lead before the hour mark, with Cheick Diarra netting a consolation for Mali.

Drogba, Didier Zokora, Kolo Toure, Romaric N'dri and Arthur Boka all looked at South Africa 2013 as their last chance to win the African title. Nigeria's coach, Stephen Keshi has no pity for the star-studded Ivory Coast.

Keshi Gives Up on Shola Ameobi

Nigerian Shola AmeobiKeshi have given up on Shola Ameobi a Newcastlr Striker for 2013 Africa Cup of Nations squad after refusing to answer or return telephone calls.

Ameobi was named in the preliminary squad by coach Stephen Keshi. But it was later announced by Newcastle boss Alan Pardew that the 31-year-old would not travel to South Africa.
